Regina, January 19, 2022 ‒ Éditions de la nouvelle plume is very pleased to announce the appointment of Martine Noël-Maw to the position of managing editor / directrice générale. According to the president, Laurier Gareau, “Her vast experience in the field of publishing and representation makes Martine the ideal candidate for the position of managing editor.”
Very well known in the Fransaskois community and in the world of publishing as an author, playwright, editor, and translator, Martine has sat on the board of directors of La nouvelle plume since 2007. She says she decided to take up this new challenge because “The dynamism and the magnitude of the achievements of our small team made me want to do even more for the publishing house that gave me my first chance as an author.”
Since the release of her first novel at La nouvelle plume, Dans le pli des collines in 2004, Ms. Noël-Maw has created the eSKapade youth collection for which she penned six titles. La nouvelle plume has also published one of her plays, Will & Ernest, and two of her translations, Hommage au bison and Artémis vole au secours de la planète. As an editor, she has accompanied several authors, including David Baudemont, Jean-Pierre Picard and Yves Lafond.
Over the years, Ms. Noël-Maw has represented Éditions de la nouvelle plume at book fairs in Canada and Europe. At the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, in 2018, she sold the German translation rights of Hommage au bison to MONS Verlag publishing house. This made La nouvelle plume the only publishing house in Western Canada to have sold a title for translation at this international fair.
